Potassium Carbonate

Potassium Carbonate (K2CO3) is a white salt, soluble in water, which forms a strongly alkaline solution. It is deliquescent, often appearing a damp or wet solid.

Potassium Carbonate is used in soap and glass production. It is used as a mild drying agent and even used as a buffering agent when making wine. It is commonly used for softening hard water and as a fire suppressant to extinguish grease fires.
