Triethylene Glycol

Ethylene Glycol is an organic compound primarily used as a raw material in the manufacture of polyester fibers and fabric industry, and polyethylene terephthalate resins used in bottling. A small percentage is also used in industrial applications like antifreeze formulations and other industrial products. In its pure form, it is an oderless, colorless, syrupy, sweet-tasting liquid. Ethylene glycol is toxic, and ingestion can result in death. Ethylene Glycol is used in coolant and heat transfer agent, antifreeze, precursor to polymers, hydrate inhibition, niche applications, and preservative for biological specimens.

Interesting Fact - In 2012 antifreeze manufactures voluntarily agreed to put bitter flavoring in all antifreeze sold into the U.S. consumer market.
