Industrial Applications

Municipal Water Disinfection

Primary disinfectant for drinking water treatment plants — sodium hypochlorite is dosed to achieve a free chlorine residual that inactivates bacteria, viruses, and protozoa throughout the distribution system. NSF/ANSI 60 certified grades required.

Wastewater Treatment

Disinfection of secondary and tertiary treated effluent before discharge. Sodium hypochlorite is also used for odor control in collection systems and for disinfecting biosolids.

Cooling Tower Biocide

Oxidizing biocide for controlling Legionella, algae, and biofilm in cooling water systems. Typically dosed as part of a rotating biocide program alongside non-oxidizing biocides.

Food & Beverage Sanitation

CIP (clean-in-place) sanitizer for food processing equipment, tanks, and pipelines. Food-grade concentrations (50–200 ppm free chlorine) are used for surface sanitation and equipment sterilization.

Industrial Bleaching

Bleaching agent for pulp and paper, textiles, and laundry operations. Sodium hypochlorite oxidizes chromophores in cellulose and synthetic fibers, removing color and stains.

Swimming Pool & Recreational Water

Sanitizer for commercial pools, water parks, and recreational water facilities. Liquid sodium hypochlorite is preferred over solid chlorine for large-volume applications due to ease of handling and dosing.
