Non-Phthalate PVC Compounds
DOTP is the leading non-phthalate plasticizer for flexible PVC, used where phthalate-free formulations are required. It is a drop-in replacement for DINP in most applications with similar performance characteristics.
Food Contact Packaging
DOTP is approved for food contact applications and is used in PVC food packaging films, food service gloves, and food processing equipment components.
Medical Devices
Used in PVC medical tubing, blood bags, and medical device components where phthalate-free formulations are required for biocompatibility.
Wire & Cable
DOTP provides excellent electrical properties and heat resistance comparable to DINP, making it suitable for wire and cable insulation in phthalate-sensitive applications.
Automotive Interior
Used in PVC automotive interior parts where phthalate-free formulations are required by automotive OEM specifications.
Consumer Products
Used in PVC consumer products including toys, childcare articles, and household products where phthalate restrictions apply.
DOTP (dioctyl terephthalate) is a very close drop-in replacement for DINP (diisononyl phthalate) in most flexible PVC applications. DOTP has similar molecular weight (390 vs 418 g/mol), similar plasticizing efficiency, and similar heat resistance. Minor formulation adjustments may be needed for exact performance matching. DOTP is preferred for food contact, medical, and children product applications where phthalate restrictions apply.
Yes. DOTP is approved for food contact applications under FDA 21 CFR 175.300 (resinous and polymeric coatings) and EU Regulation 10/2011 (plastic materials in contact with food). It is used in PVC food packaging films, food service gloves, and food processing equipment. Contact Texas-Chem for food contact compliance documentation.
DOTP (dioctyl terephthalate) is a terephthalate ester (para-isomer) while DOP/DEHP (di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate) is an ortho-phthalate ester. DOTP is not classified as SVHC and is approved for food contact and medical applications. DOP/DEHP is classified as SVHC and restricted in many applications. DOTP provides similar plasticizing performance to DOP/DEHP.
Yes. DOTP is used as a non-phthalate plasticizer in PVC medical tubing, blood bags, and medical device components. It provides good biocompatibility and meets ISO 10993 requirements for medical device materials. Contact Texas-Chem for medical-grade DOTP availability and compliance documentation.
