CAS 25322-68-3 · Polymer · Multiple MW Grades
PEG / Macrogol · H(OCH₂CH₂)ₙOH · MW 200–35,000+ g/mol
A family of water-soluble polyether polymers ranging from low-viscosity liquids (PEG 200–600) to waxy solids (PEG 1000+). PEG's unique combination of water solubility, low toxicity, chemical inertness, and tunable molecular weight makes it one of the most versatile industrial and pharmaceutical chemicals in use today. Texas-Chem supplies PEG in industrial and USP grades across a range of molecular weights.

Pharmaceuticals
USP-grade PEG is one of the most widely used pharmaceutical excipients — solvent, carrier, and base for oral liquids, topical ointments, suppositories, and injectable formulations. PEGylation of proteins extends drug half-life.
Cosmetics & Personal Care
Humectant, emollient, and solubilizer in skin creams, lotions, shampoos, and toothpaste. PEG 400 and PEG 600 are standard cosmetic ingredients for moisture retention and texture improvement.
Industrial Lubricants
Water-soluble lubricant base for metalworking fluids, hydraulic fluids, and gear oils. PEG lubricants are biodegradable and do not leave oily residues, making them preferred for food-grade and environmentally sensitive applications.
Textile Processing
Lubricant, softener, and antistatic agent in fiber spinning, yarn sizing, and fabric finishing. PEG improves processability and reduces static buildup in synthetic fiber production.
Paper & Printing
Release agent and humectant in paper coatings and printing inks. Prevents ink drying in inkjet systems and improves paper surface properties.
Chemical Synthesis
Phase-transfer catalyst and reaction medium in organic synthesis. PEG 400 and PEG 600 are used as green solvents for reactions requiring a polar, non-volatile, water-miscible medium.
