Industrial Applications

Industrial Machinery & Manufacturing

Hydraulic fluid base stock is used in industrial presses, injection molding machines, and manufacturing equipment across Texas. Formulated with AW additive package to produce ISO VG 32, 46, or 68 finished hydraulic fluid.

Construction & Heavy Equipment

Used in excavators, cranes, and heavy construction equipment operating in Texas infrastructure and construction projects. High VI ensures consistent performance across ambient temperature swings.

Oilfield & Drilling Equipment

Hydraulic systems in drilling rigs, well service equipment, and production facilities across the Permian Basin and Gulf Coast require reliable hydraulic fluid with good oxidation stability.

Lubricant Blending

Used by lubricant blenders formulating finished hydraulic fluids (AW32, AW46, AW68) for the Texas industrial market. Compatible with standard AW additive packages — zinc-based ZDDP and ashless types.

Machine Tool & CNC Equipment

CNC machining centers, grinding machines, and precision machine tools require clean, low-contamination hydraulic fluid. Group II base stock provides the cleanliness and stability required.

Elevator & Lift Systems

Hydraulic elevator and lift systems require fluid with good oxidation stability and low pour point for reliable operation across temperature ranges.

Why Source Hydraulic Fluid Base Stock from Texas-Chem?

  • Group II hydrotreated — high VI (100–115), low sulfur, excellent oxidation stability
  • Viscosity grades for AW32, AW46, and AW68 finished fluid formulation
  • Compatible with standard AW additive packages — zinc-based ZDDP and ashless types
  • SDS, COA, and lot traceability on every order
  • Nationwide delivery from Fort Worth, TX — drums, totes, and bulk tanker

Frequently Asked Questions — Hydraulic Fluid Base Stock

What viscosity grade should I use for my hydraulic system?▾

ISO VG 46 (46 cSt at 40 °C) is the most common grade for industrial hydraulic systems operating at ambient temperatures. ISO VG 32 is used in systems requiring lower viscosity (high-speed pumps, cold climates). ISO VG 68 is used in high-temperature applications or systems with high leakage tolerance. Consult your equipment OEM for the specified viscosity grade.

What additive package do I need to formulate finished AW hydraulic fluid?▾

To formulate finished AW hydraulic fluid, you need the base stock plus an AW additive package containing zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (ZDDP) or ashless anti-wear additives, oxidation inhibitors, rust and corrosion inhibitors, foam inhibitor, and demulsifier. Texas-Chem can connect you with additive package suppliers — contact us at 855-TEX-CHEM.

What is the difference between AW and R&O hydraulic fluid?▾

AW (anti-wear) hydraulic fluid contains zinc-based or ashless anti-wear additives that protect hydraulic pump components under high pressure. R&O (rust and oxidation inhibited) hydraulic fluid contains only rust and oxidation inhibitors without anti-wear additives — it is used in lower-pressure systems and circulating oil applications.

Can this base stock be used for mobile equipment hydraulics?▾

Yes. The Group II base stock supplied by Texas-Chem is suitable for formulating mobile equipment hydraulic fluids (construction, agriculture, mining) when combined with the appropriate additive package. Mobile equipment hydraulic fluids typically require ISO VG 46 or 68 with good low-temperature pumpability.
