Metal Fabrication & Stamping
Rust preventatives protect stamped and fabricated steel parts during in-process storage and transit at Texas metal fabrication shops. Applied by dip or spray after forming operations.
Oilfield Equipment & Tubular Goods
Used to protect drill pipe, casing, and oilfield equipment from corrosion during storage and shipment in the Texas oilfield supply chain. Compatible with standard thread compound application.
Automotive Parts Manufacturing
Applied to machined and stamped automotive parts to prevent rust during in-process storage and finished goods warehousing at Texas automotive suppliers.
Military & Defense Equipment
MIL-spec rust preventatives are used to protect military equipment, weapons, and vehicles during long-term storage. Thin dry film leaves surfaces clean for subsequent operations.
Export Packaging
Applied to metal goods before export packaging to provide corrosion protection during ocean freight transit and extended storage in humid environments.
Maintenance & Repair
Used in industrial maintenance operations to protect stored spare parts, tooling, and equipment from corrosion during extended storage periods.
Protection duration depends on film thickness, application method, and storage conditions. Thin spray films provide 6–12 months indoor protection. Heavy dip coatings provide 12–24 months or longer. Outdoor or humid storage requires heavier films or additional packaging (VCI bags, sealed containers). Contact Texas-Chem at 855-TEX-CHEM for application-specific recommendations.
Solvent-based rust preventatives are removed with petroleum solvent (mineral spirits, naphtha) or alkaline aqueous cleaners. For painting, ensure complete removal of the RP film — residual oil contamination will cause paint adhesion failure. Alkaline cleaning followed by water rinse is the preferred pre-paint cleaning process.
Yes. Texas-Chem supplies rust preventative used for protecting drill pipe, casing, and oilfield tubular goods during storage and shipment. The product meets the requirements for tubular goods storage protection and is compatible with standard thread compound application.
No. Rust preventative is a corrosion inhibitor, not a rust converter or primer. It must be applied to clean, rust-free metal surfaces. Existing rust must be removed by mechanical cleaning (wire brushing, blasting) or chemical treatment before applying rust preventative.
