Sodium Dodecylbenzenesulfonate (also commonly referred to as linear alkylbenzene sultanate or LAS) is a series of organic compounds with the formula C12H25C6H4SO3Na. It is a colorless salt with useful properties as a surfactant. It is usually produced as a mixture of related sultanates.
Sodium Dodecylbenzenesulfonate is also found in laundry powders, laundry liquids, dishwashing liquids and other household cleaners.
Sodium Dodecylbenzenesulfonate has many industrial applications as a wetting agent, emulsifier for agricultural herbicides and in polymerization. It is also used in drilling as an anti-sludge additive, emulsion breaker, and paraffin dispersant.
Sodium Dodecylbenzenesulfonate is biodegradable and environmentally friendly.
